Evaluation

Conventions are different ways different magazines do things in order to make their magazine look unique. In my magazine i followed a girlyish look, i used some of my own conventions by putting a medium subjective picture of a male on my front cover, many magazines of my genre would have a medium shot of a female this is because most magazines recon that younger girls look up towards the more successful beautiful looking celebrity's but the way that i have looked at it is younger girls would pick up this magazine and want to read it as it has a young good looking boy on the front cover. My magazine does follow some of the conventions other music magazines contain like a plain bold title easy to read and one that stands out. With also a bar code in the bottom corner with the price clear.

The genre of my magazine that i have produced is a pop genre. I took most influences from the Top Of The Pops magazine and the X-Factor magazine! The reason for that is both magazines involved a vary of age groups and fitted into the same category as my genre!

1-Title of my magazine.
The name 'follow' suggests that it is a magazine that should be followed and by it being 'caps' and in a simple font it makes it eye catching and easy to follow.

2-Mise-en-scene of images
In the shot for my front cover all i had was a red background. This colour stands out and gives the person modeling a contrast colour.
3-Costumes and props
The costumes that i used for my model for the front cover was plain and simple clothing with no props.
4-People in the photos
My model for my front cover photo was a good looking young boy, a subjective shot which was a close-up to fill the majority of the page.
5-Masthead font and placement
My masthead on my front cover is placed in the centre of the front page so that it captures the eye straight away the font for my masthead was Eras Bold ITC which was one of the simpler fonts. I aimed to have a simple font as i did not want anything too fussy as the fussier it was the least eye catching it is and looks overdone.
6-Written content: type of language, length, form.
The written content of my double page article is in the form of an interview, i chose this idea as i thought it would be an easy way to get exciting information across to the younger generation of girls, anything too heavy would bee too much for girls to quickly read as they would just look at the content and be put off by reading it, so the length of it fills up one half of a page.
7-Music genre and how your magazine suggests it
The music genre of my magazine is along the lines of pop and the top 10 charts. The reason for this is pop is a genre that is liked by most girls now a days and it has a wide audience, and the top 10 music singles of the month are also very popular by the majority of girls.
8-Contents pages

9-Double page spread layout
The layout of my double page spread is sectioned. My main full body image is on the left hand side of the article, and the interview text is on the right hand side of the article. I chose to do it this way as the double page looks a lot more effective like that as its all spaced out and the eye gets drawn to the picture before the text and as the eye scans pages in a z shape this technique works.
10-House style
I done all of the above and created an overall theme to target a girls audience of varied ages from 13-18 as i think that there is not many magazines for the audience that 'follow' top charts of the month and pop music.
